What a proposal must accomplish
A proposal is a decision document. It explains what you will study, why it matters, how you will obtain evidence, and what boundaries will keep the project realistic. Its purpose is not to pretend that results are already known; it is to make the planned reasoning visible.
Build alignment across the sections

State the problem without inflated claims
Avoid “no studies exist” unless a comprehensive search supports it. Prefer a bounded claim such as “the literature reviewed gives limited attention to this population in this setting.” This is more credible and easier to defend with citations.
Choose the method because of the question
Descriptive questions may need distributions or experiences; comparative questions need defined groups; explanatory questions need a defensible logic linking variables or themes. Do not select mixed methods because it sounds advanced. Use it when combining qualitative and quantitative evidence answers the question better than either alone.
Plan analysis before collection
State how missing data, coding, tests, or thematic categories will be handled. The plan may evolve when you inspect the data, but early planning reduces improvised decisions and improves transparency.

Follow your department’s template. Completeness and alignment matter more than a fixed page count.
Should a proposal include findings?
No. It may state expected contribution and outcomes, but actual findings belong in the completed report.
